Jimmy Greaves: A Natural Goalscorer
Jimmy Greaves scored 357 goals in England’s top flight.
Jimmy Greaves possessed the sort of goalscoring instinct that made difficult chances look almost routine. He starred for Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United, becoming one of the most prolific forwards in English league history. His 357 goals in the top division remain an extraordinary benchmark. Greaves combined quick feet, calm finishing and an ability to anticipate where the ball would arrive. He was part of England's 1966 World Cup squad, although injury and selection decisions meant he did not play in the final. His career illustrates how a great goalscorer can be remembered for much more than a single tournament. Week after week, season after season, Greaves made the hardest job in football look deceptively simple.
