On 29 June 1958, a 17-year-old Brazilian named Pelé announced himself to the football world with a remarkable performance in the World Cup Final against Sweden in Stockholm.
Brazil defeated the hosts 5–2, with Pelé scoring twice, including a memorable goal in which he lifted the ball over a defender before volleying it into the net.
